Job Description

Technical

·         Follows established protocol for performance of all lab testing.
·         Performs and documents routine maintenance on all equipment.
·         Performs quality control according to established guidelines.
 
Equipment Operation/Troubleshooting

·         Understands routine instrument operations and follows manufacturer’s guidelines.
·         Initiates troubleshooting of common problems.
·         Accurately documents and communicates analyzer malfunctions/resolutions/status.
·         Performs and documents routine equipment maintenance.
 
Review of Results

·         Follows protocol for review of all results and investigates questionable or unexpected results, prior to verification. Takes appropriate follow-up action.
·         Recognizes critical values, validates and calls to appropriate party.
·         Reviews WAR and RR reports in area of assignment.
 
Quality Improvement

·         Participates in Proficiency testing challenges.
·         Participates in at least one Performance Improvement activity.
·         Completes and submits annual competency verification documents.
 
Professional Development/ Leadership

·         Completes all mandatory hospital/ lab requirements for position.
·         Obtains required continuing education to maintain license and provides documentation.
·         Participates in at least one non-testing event annually.
 
Requirements

•          ASCP registered, LA licensed MLS and MLTs with generalist skills including blood banking
